I chose Central because I was nervous to leave home and come to college all on my own. Central's community and campus made me feel like I belonged in the Wildcat family. From it's small class sizes to constant opportunities for growth and engagement on campus, CWU has become my second home and has made college some of the best years of my life so far!
My favorite things about Ellensburg would have to been the big beautiful blue skies, the mountains next door, and all the outdoor adventures that you can have in this part of Washington State. This little town provides a great sense of community, while also not being far from the beautiful wilderness.
My favorite professor here at CWU is Dr. Kara Gabriel in the Psychology department. I had the pleasure of enrolling into her cognitive psychology course, which would also end up being one of the most challenging and most rewarding classes I've taken here at CWU. Not only did Dr. Gabriel make a difficult, and even somewhat dry subject, interesting and fun, she was constantly challenging herself by taking courses here at the university to "remind her what it was like to be a student". She treated us all like smart, capable adults, and that kind of respect and support from a professor is what I love about the faculty that we have here at CWU.
My favorite part about being a CWU ambassador would have to be the chance to meet so many different and interesting people! Sharing my love for CWU is a fun job in itself, but I think the best part is getting to hear the prospective student's story and what their passions are.
